My wife and partner Laura and I, as Chief Giving Officer and CEO of Rescue Dog Wines, are both thrilled to share our journey and commitment to sustainability, which is at the heart of everything we do. Our story began with a passion for wine and a deep commitment to animal welfare, leading us to donate 50% of our profits to rescue dog organizations. But our mission goes beyond supporting our four-legged friends; it extends into every vine we plant and every bottle we produce.
Our vineyard, nestled in the beautiful region of Acampo, just a few minutes north of Lodi, California, is a testament to our dedication to sustainable farming practices. From the outset, we knew that if we were to make a difference, it had to start with the land. Partnering with Round Valley Ranches and guided by the expert management of Aaron Shinn, we’ve revitalized an abandoned vineyard into a thriving, sustainable ecosystem. Our approach has been holistic, preserving native habitats and implementing a vertical shoot position (VSP) trellis system for our Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, and Sangiovese vines, planted with the future in mind.
Our commitment to sustainability is further cemented by our adherence to Lodi Rules, a rigorous, internationally respected certification program that sets the standard for sustainable winemaking. Lodi Rules not only reflects our dedication to environmental stewardship but also our belief in producing premium wines that honor the rich winemaking heritage of California. This program’s focus on reducing pesticide reliance, conserving water, and enhancing ecosystem health aligns perfectly with our values, ensuring that our vineyard not only produces exceptional grapes but does so in a way that protects and nurtures the environment.
Being Lodi Rules–certified is a badge of honor for us at Rescue Dog Wines. It signifies our commitment to not just making outstanding wines, but doing so responsibly, with a keen eye on the impact we have on our planet and community. This certification is a promise to you, our valued customers, that when you choose Rescue Dog Wines, you’re not only enjoying a delicious, carefully crafted bottle of wine, but you’re also supporting a broader mission of sustainability and compassion.
We are proud to be part of the Lodi community, a region that has been at the forefront of sustainable winemaking for decades. Our journey is ongoing, and we are excited about the future—a future where we continue to produce premium, sustainable wines that make a difference, one bottle at a time. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Cheers!
